Fettes Active Netball Camp

It’s Your Place For Fun

11 to 15 August 2025 & 13 to 17 October 2025
9 to 14 year-olds

Netball is a fun, social sport that anyone can play, regardless of gender, age, ability or skill and we would love to welcome your child to our camp, where they will meet children from a variety of schools while developing their skills and building their confidence.

Camp
Ethos

Hendrik Lessing, our Head of Netball at Fettes, and his team are strong believers in teaching children the importance of humility, respect and sportsmanship within a team environment, so by the end of the week’s camp your child will not only have developed their core netball skills but will also have learned many important values associated with sport.

The camp is designed to be high energy and fun with lots of interaction including team challenges, micro skills sessions, balance and coordination and game play. Players’ confidence will grow throughout the week through the development and improvement of their core netball skills as well as receiving specialist instruction from high performance international coaches.

Head Coach
Hendrik Lessing

Born in Durban, South Africa, Hendrik grew up around netball courts watching his mum play. Originally a basketball player, he switched to netball early and, by 15, was playing for his senior provincial team at national championships. Over the next 20 years, he represented his province multiple times before transitioning into coaching.

In 2014, he earned his first provincial coaching role and over six years led various age-group, senior Ladies, Mixed, and Men’s teams to national medal finishes. In 2021, he moved to the UK, and the next year, both played for and coached the inaugural Scottish Men’s National Netball Team, leading them to a 3rd place finish at the UK Men’s Nationals. In 2022, Hendrik became Head of Netball at Fettes College and has since led the school to four Scottish Schools Cup gold medals and one silver. Under his leadership, the Fettes U13 team won the Scottish IAPS competition two years in a row, while the U15 team claimed victory in the inaugural U15 Scottish Independent Schools Netball Association Tournament earlier this season. In 2024, as Assistant Coach, he helped the University of Edinburgh win the National League and finish second in the Scottish Cup.

That year, he also helped Team Harriers win the Development Super Cup. Hendrik is a passionate coach with a talent for bringing out the best in his players. His philosophy centers on developing the athlete first and letting the results follow. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge with the future netball stars attending the Fettes Active Netball Camp.
